Hello, my name is Martin Auer and today I would like to introduce myself a little bit more. Because many people in my seminars and trainings asked and ask for that.
Martin Auer: First career as a scientist
From my first career I am a natural scientist. I studied biochemistry and cellular biology at the Technical University in Munich und did my PhD in a virological group at Max-Planck Institute for Biochemistry in Martinsried near Munich. It was a lot of cell culture work, protein chemistry and of course molecular biology on different viruses and various cell lines.
Already during my PhD work in the evenings I attended several additional courses in marketing and sales, because this generated some attraction and fascination for me from the very beginning. After a short PostDoc I left the laboratory to start my first position in field sales where I focused from the beginning on instrument sales.
Martin Auer: Career in sales
After a short period I recognized that I started my sales career in the midst of big changes in the sales and selling field. Many of the methods which were trained in the standard training seminars seemed to not really match the requirements or not really fit any more to what customers expected and began to request. There was some mismatch between the taught standard methods and reality, so to say. So I began to think about that, to filter out, to distill success factors in sales which were sometimes quite different from what one could read and learn in books about selling and sales.
Martin Auer: Postgraduate MBA study with focus in sales
Several years later, in the master thesis of my additional MBA study I tried to find out and formulate those key success factors in sales, with the example of imaging instruments in the german, european and worldwide market. This resulted in a quite interesting book in the end about key success factors in sales, which is available on Amazon now: Paradigm Shift in Sales – Identification of Key Success Factors for the New B2b-Sales World
Martin Auer: Foundation of own company (Science Sales Academy)
After many years in sales in different fields and several hundred successful sales projects I started my own company doing consulting, trainings and seminars for sales, always driven by the omnipresent paradigm shift in sales, driven by the idea that today sales is to be done a little bit differently than 30 years ago. This is how my company Science Sales Academy was born.
In my leisure time I am doing a lot of sports, such as cycling or mountaineering.
